The fastest way to determine an existing circuit breaker is through the circuit breaker
Catalog Number (or part number) found on the nameplate.
If nameplate data is faded or unavailable
(older vintage Westinghouse and ITE Molded Case Circuit Breakers are notorious for having time worn nameplate data), the
Manufacturer’s Name (from the breaker or panel),
Type (Ex. J Type, ML Type),
Ampere Rating and any
Physical Dimensions of the existing breaker would be key factors in determining a suitable breaker replacement.
